2022 Autumn Equinox: Awareness In Relationship
Autumn begins in 2022 with the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd at 6:04 PM in Denver, and ends with the Winter Solstice on December 21st.
The Planet Venus matters in the Autumn Equinox chart, and it is very “busy” this Autumn with Aspects to other Planets. To start with Venus is conjunct (appears to be in the same place in the sky as) both the Sun and Mercury on the Equinox, lending this Autumn a very active and light-hearted air. Many of us are likely to prioritize fun and romance this season, to the point that there may be a tendency to put off difficult or serious issues until the Winter, or even later. Venus also opposes Neptune (the two appear “opposite,” or 180 degrees from each other in Earth’s sky) in the Autumn Equinox chart, indicating that we may need to make sure we are seeing and accepting our loved ones for who they really are this season, rather than who we would like them to be. Venus squares Mars (the two Planets appear to be at a 90 degree angle to each other in Earth’s sky) at the time of the Autumn Equinox, indicating that this Autumn is likely to be a very creative time for many of us, although our relationships—especially our romantic ones—may not be as harmonious as we would like. And finally Venus is trine (at a 120 degree angle to) both Uranus and Pluto in the Autumn Equinox chart, indicating that our experience of love will be intensified this Autumn, as our pursuit of love brings us the chance to experience things that are completely new and different.
Many of us are likely to find ourselves in a better financial position this Autumn than we otherwise would expect to this time of year. This is likely to reinforce the sense of ease and fun we are probably already feeling. Spending a little extra to enjoy ourselves is a good thing, but squirreling away bits of our current good fortune may bring us even more happiness down the road.
The final pass of the ongoing Saturn-Uranus square (the two Planets appearing to be about 90 degrees from each other in Earth’s sky) is occurring this Autumn. It is already in effect at the time of the Autumn Equinox, and will continue through October 21st. This transit has been shaping some of the most widely-felt trends in world events of the last couple of years, including wider than usual swings in financial markets, supply-chain disruptions, and heightened political division on the world stage. We may see a last hurrah of these things during this final pass of the Saturn-Uranus square, but after Oct. 22nd we are likely to see financial markets regaining some stability, supply-chains becoming more predictable, and possibly even an end to the conflict in the Ukraine.
And speaking of transits ongoing at the start of Autumn this year, Mercury is already retrograde (appears to be moving backward through the Zodiac) as this Autumn begins. The retrograde began Sep. 9th, and will continue until Oct. 2nd. Mercury is moving from early Libra back into late Virgo. Mercury retrogrades are times when scheduling disruptions, miscommunications, delays, clumsiness, and general confusion are more likely than normal. During this particular Mercury retrograde we are likely to be guided to reevaluate the assumptions we make regarding our partners (or perhaps partnership in general), and we may perhaps need to put some extra effort toward ensuring we get to work on time or otherwise stay organized when working. All Mercury retrogrades represent a good time for tying up loose ends in our lives, and this one should be especially good for doing so regarding our partnerships, legal issues, jobs, and health.
To make the most of this Mercury retrograde, while it’s happening re-confirm all appointments, give yourself a little extra time to get to and from your appointments, take at least one deep breath every day, and try to remain patient with others who aren’t as aware as you are of Mercury retrogrades and what they mean.
In other Planetary retrograde news, Mars also goes retrograde this Autumn, and will remain so into Winter. Mars retrograde begins Oct. 29th in late Gemini and will continue through Jan 12th of 2023, when it will “go direct” (appear to begin to move forward through the Zodiac) again in early Gemini. Mars retrogrades are times when many of us—especially men—feel less capable than usual. Sometimes this is just a sense of ennui, while other times it can indicate an actual short-lived physical handicap. With Mars retrograde in Gemini, during the retrograde many of us may find it particularly difficult to make ourselves understood, or to move about as we are accustomed to in the course of our daily routine. Mars retrogrades are a time to remember that we are human beings, rather than human “doings.” Listening, and giving ourselves permission to move a little more slowly, is what will likely bring the best results during this Mars retrograde. If we do, we may even learn things to our unexpected advantage.
These predictions are generalized, applying to the widest possible range of people. Some individuals may experience these astrological events very differently than how I've described them, because of things in their own birthchart that enhance or block the astrological influences I've described.
